Welcome to the Brunswick Pecan Festival!

Jerry and Linda Huffman have been cherished members of the Brunswick community since 1966, totaling 58 years of local presence. Jerry graduated from Brunswick High School in 1962, while Linda attended both Brunswick High School and Keytesville High School.

Married on March 23, 1965, Jerry and Linda (Billups) raised four children in Brunswick. Jerry worked for Brunswick Distributing Company for 45 years before retiring in 2007. Linda, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, provided childcare to many children in the community. When asked how many children she cared for, she replied, "I have no idea but a lot." After becoming grandparents, they were affectionately known as Granny and Papa to all the children who came through their doors. The highlight of the day was when Papa came home for lunch and the kids would run to give him "high fives."

Their family has since grown to include four in-laws/significant others, eight grandchildren with their own in-laws/significant others, and they are great-grandparents to eight, soon to be nine. Additionally, they have one foster granddaughter and five foster great-grandchildren.

Throughout their time in Brunswick, Jerry and Linda have been actively involved in their children’s activities. They participated in the PTO and Athletic Boosters. Jerry also served on the Brunswick City Council in the past, and Linda was honored as a past Pecan Festival Queen Grandma. They regularly perform karaoke at Anew Healthcare, providing entertainment for the residents. On two to three nights each week, they can be found dancing and singing karaoke with friends.

Jerry and Linda have thoroughly enjoyed their life in Brunswick. You can often find them at the softball and baseball fields and basketball courts, supporting local youth and enjoying the games while socializing with the community.

Their infectious smiles and friendly waves brighten everyone's day. Join them for a day full of family and fun at this year's 434th Annual Pecan Festival. Be sure to share your smiles and waves as they go through the parade and throughout the festival weekend. It is an honor for them to represent our town as the 2024 Brunswick Pecan Festival Grand Marshals.
